Is the Maiden's Tower of Istanbul destroyed?

Sitting on the Asian side of Istanbul, Maiden's Tower or Kız Kulesi is a landmark of the historic city. This tower is standing since Medieval times and is a tower on a small islet at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait, 200 m from the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey. The Maiden's tower appeared on the reverse of the Turkish 10 lira banknote from 1966 to 1981. Well, now there is a video of the location circulating around that shows the Maiden's Tower of Istanbul is destroyed and gone.

Luckily, the ministry and local authorities deny such rumors. However, a part of the tower is in fact removed! The removed parts are said not to be an original part of the historic tower and have been added after a fire in 1940s.

The authorities are also reinforcing the maiden's tower against earthquakes. The reinforcing process is not an easy one and that's why the tower has been closed to public for a year.
