New year, new me? no, the better slogan would be new year, new prices in Turkey. With the inflation not being controlled, the prices keep rising up in Turkey practically every month. Istanbul is seeing a price hike every other day it seems, from graves and parking spaces, to public transportation and cost of living. Ankara, the capital of Turkey, was feeling a little left behind it seems and it too, is hiking the prices of public transportation in 2023.



The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), announced last week that it will be rising the public transportation fees due to increase in fuel cost. The new prices will be effective Jan 15, 2023.

How much do you have to pay to use public transportation in Ankara in 2023?
new fares are determined as TL 9.5 for a full ticket instead of TL 6.5, and TL 4.75 for a student ticket instead of the current TL 3.5. Meanwhile, the unlimited monthly student subscription will see a rise from TL 90 to TL 140.

I should mention that the ABB told the news agencies that a hike in price may happen again very soon for ankara's public transportation if nothing is done about the fuel cost. So, brace yourself for "Ankara public transportation fees 2023" V.2 very soon.
