    Istanbul's largest library is now open

    Istanbul is one of the biggest and best cities Turkey has to offer. Whether it's Cultural, economical, or historical attractions, Istanbul has it all to offer. Now Istanbul has the city's biggest library to offer as well.

    Istanbul's biggest library, which is the largest public library in Istanbul, is now open. Rami library is revived from the historic Rami barracks and was inaugurated by the president of Turkey on Jan 13th 2023.

    Rami barracks dates back to the middle of eighth century. The restoration and changing it to Istanbul's biggest library took 4 years. Rami library has a campus with reading halls, activity areas, workshops and disability centers. The library will be open 24/7.

    As of 2021, data published by Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat) shows the number of libraries operating in Türkiye increased by 1.7% compared to 2020 and reached 34,555, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported. This number kept increasing over time since Turkstat's report for 2017 revealed the country had around 29,000 libraries across the nation at the time
