How bad is the peer bullying in Turkey's schools?

If you are looking to move to Turkey and you have a child, you might be worried that they might be bullied in Turkish schools. Of course, you can enroll them in private schools in Turkey or international ones to have some sort of control on the situation. But, we all know that as long as there are humans, there will be issues. "children can be cruel" and they sure can be no matter where you are. Anyways, how bad is peer bullying in Turkey's schools?

Maybe some statistics can help to give you a better idea on the situation. This is one of the things i love about Turkey, that there are institutions for every kind of statistic unlike my own country. So, the Turkish Statistical Institute or TÜIK, has some data on the bullying matter in 2023. This data was gathered from 14,705 children aged 0-17 years old across the Turkey.
    • The number of children aged 6-17 who were bullied by peers a few times a month was 13.8%
    • 7.2% of children were excluded deliberately by peers in a month.
    • 7.7% of children have experienced teasing.
    • Children with functional difficulties were bullied 27.2% in a month.
    • This was 11.6% in children without functional difficulties.
    • 4.8% of children were bullied in the form of rumors being spread about them.
Of course, these numbers are not shocking especially if you look at other countries. No matter what or where you study, bullies are gonna be there. What you can do for your children when you move to Turkey is to make them aware of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which only 45.1% of children aged 13-17 were aware of in Turkey.
