Summer is barely over and yet, Turkey had its very first snowfall in the northern regions.
In the northeastern province of Ardahan, famed for its “frozen” Lake Çıldır first snow appeared. The snow prompted people of the area to bring out their traditional stoves to warm up. Although this snowfall is welcomed and nice, it also brought lots of problems. Many drivers were not prepared for winter roads so they got stuck.
If you are planning a trip to the northern regions, be sure to be prepared with snow tires. Forecasts show dry weather and temperatures returning to seasonal normal after relatively cooler weather last week.
