Babysitters and nannies are very important if you and your partner are busy with work. This is especially true if you have recently moved to Turkey and need more help than usual. But how much does a babysitter or nanny cost in Turkey? Here, I'll try to give you an estimate, so you can make decisions whether hiring a babysitter is right for you or not.

Hiring a babysitter and negotiating a salary can be tricky. Depending on what you expect them to do, the price can vary vastly. Many expect the babysitter to also help in the house chores and tasks, as well as being able to instruct children and teach them additional languages. If you want to look at this realistically, you are hiring a teacher, who you also want to be your maid, as well as a looking after your kids. With these many responsibilities, it still is a wonder to me why so many people think that babysitters don't deserve a good salary. Back to the price thing.
From personal experience, a babysitter that can perform all the tasks that I mentioned above, starts around 200TL per hour of work. If you require the babysitter to come to your house 5 days a week, 8 hours per day, you are looking at a 32,000 TL per month, or around 1,700 USD a month. At the end of the day, the price depends on many factors including: how many children do you have, experience of the babysitter, and what you expect them to do. If now you are thinking that: "I do it all free myself! Why should I pay them that much?" I'd say shame on you first and foremost for comparing apples to oranges. Second, you are the primary caretaker of your child, it's your responsibility, not a random person you HIRE for doing a job. Finally, if you think you can do it, why are you even looking to hire someone?

Where to hire a babysitter from?
If you don't know anyone yourself in Turkey, you might want to look for an agency or something to hire from. There are a lot of them in Turkey and you can easily find them online. But if you are having a hard time choosing, here are the 2 that I would recommend hiring a babysitter from.

I think here in Turkey it depends more on where the babysitter is from, I mean which country.
there is a lot of job seekers from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, ... who are willing to work 6 days a week 8 hours for less than 1000usd and they're more than happy to work for foreigners because Turkish citizens usually don't treat them well (that's what I heard from them)

And I personally prefer posting an ads on Sahibinden.com to hire a nanny
    I'm a yabanci too ;-)
