Maiden's Tower will be open to public again soon

Maiden's Tower is one of the most iconic locations of Istanbul. not long ago, people were worried that the Maiden's Tower was destroyed and the government was covering it up. However, it turned out to be a restoration project to preserve the Maiden's Tower. Now that the restoration is almost over, a date has been set to open the Maiden's Tower to the public again.

The Maiden's Tower should have been opened by now, however, due to the unfortunate earthquake that hit Turkey, the restoration project has been put on hold as well. The Maiden's Tower has been damaged by the passage of time. it has suffered damage on both bottom and top of the structure. So, many of the sections of the Maiden's Tower had to be removed, disassembled, and repaired. Not only Maiden's Tower went under restoration, it also has been made more earthquake resistant.

The Maiden's Tower, located on an islet 200 meters (656 feet) off the shoreline, is believed to have been built in 1110 by the Byzantine Emperor Alexius Comnenus as a wooden structure protected by a stone wall. The structure was renovated to its current state in the late 1720s and served as an observation tower during the Ottoman Empire. After the restorations of The Maiden's Tower is finished, it will serve as a museum instead of a dining area. I didn't even know it was a dining area to be honest.

The Maiden's Tower will be open to public in the first week of May, 2023.
