Designed to blend seamlessly with its breathtaking surroundings, the Yalı Library, operating 24/7, offers a modern haven for intellectual pursuits. Boasting a panoramic vista of the Bosporus, it accommodates up to 120 individuals simultaneously, providing a serene yet vibrant space for study and exploration. With an impressive array of 11,000 books, including selections from both Beykoz Library and Istanbul Library Corner, the library caters to a diverse range of literary preferences. Cihan Yıldız, the general coordinator overseeing education initiatives at Beykoz Municipality, conveyed his excitement about the project during an interview with Anadolu Agency (AA). Yıldız highlighted the library's successful launch on March 12, attracting approximately 9,000 visitors since its opening. He attributed this achievement to the library's unique features and emphasized its accessibility to all Istanbul residents, irrespective of social standing. Operating on an online reservation system and providing round-the-clock service, the library also offers amenities such as a complimentary cafeteria serving soup, bagels, tea, and lemonade, enhancing the visitor experience. Yıldız underscored Mayor Murat Aydın's innovative vision, noting that the Yalı Library stands out as a pioneering endeavor. By repurposing a mansion overlooking the iconic Bosporus, the project democratizes access to such prestigious locales, typically reserved for the elite. The transformation of the mansion, formerly a sports club management building, into a public library has garnered positive feedback, particularly from young patrons. Yıldız shared anecdotes illustrating the profound impact the library has had on individuals, including inspiring academic diligence and providing solace amid study pressures. Enthusiastic book enthusiasts of all ages can now indulge in scholarly pursuits at the Yalı Library by scheduling appointments at their convenience. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to borrow selected works for a period of 15 days through online reservations. Beykoz, with its rich historical significance dating back to the Ottoman era, serves as a picturesque backdrop for the Yalı Library. Originally a haven for Ottoman royalty seeking respite from urban life, Beykoz boasts notable landmarks such as Küçüksu Palace, Anadolu Hisarı Castle, and the iconic Khedive Palace, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's storied past. Accessible via various transportation routes, including coastal roads and ferry services, Beykoz remains a cherished destination along the Bosporus, renowned for its architectural marvels, quaint villages, and waterfront cafes that enchant tourists and locals alike.
