Numerous parks and natural sites across Turkey are poised to welcome citizens seeking relaxation and leisure during the upcoming Eid holiday, offering serene atmospheres and fresh air. These destinations are anticipated to be among the most frequented spots throughout the week.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry recently announced that national parks and natural reserves, managed by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP), are gearing up for an influx of visitors during the nine-day Eid-al-Fitr, also known as Ramadan Bayram.
Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı emphasized the importance of visitors showing sensitivity towards protected areas while enjoying nature during the holiday period. These areas, supervised by the DKMP, provide opportunities for leisure, relaxation, and appreciation of natural beauty, historical richness, and tranquil environments.
With 49 national parks, 265 nature parks, and various other protected sites under its management, the DKMP ensures citizens have access to these serene retreats away from urban life, especially on weekends and holidays.
Ahead of the holiday, the ministry has undertaken necessary precautions to accommodate the expected surge in visitors, including maintenance and renovation of facilities, heightened cleanliness measures, and enhanced security to safeguard visitors and property.
During last year's Ramadan Bayram holiday, approximately 1.33 million people visited protected areas across the country, with Marmaris National Park, Ormanya Nature Park, and Burç Nature Park emerging as the top three most visited destinations.
Minister Yumaklı underscored Turkey's rich biodiversity and ongoing efforts to conserve and enhance these natural treasures. He urged citizens to explore and appreciate the country's protected areas during the holiday, emphasizing their role as legacies for future generations.
In addition to encouraging sensitivity towards these protected areas, the minister reminded citizens to remain vigilant against forest fires and avoid actions that could endanger national parks, nature reserves, and forests.
As Ramadan Bayram approaches, Minister Yumaklı extended warm wishes for a peaceful holiday to all citizens and the Islamic world.
