    What is Cevrefest in Turkey?

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of Turkey will launch "ÇEVREFEST" as part of Environmental Week activities from June 5 to 9. The festival, held nationwide under the slogan "Hepimizin Bir Dünyası Var" (We All Have One World), will feature zero waste initiatives and showcase clean production technologies.

Minister Mehmet Özhaseki will give the opening speech at the Capital City People's Garden in Ankara, where the program will include numerous children's activities. The festival will host discussions for all ages, workshops, and a book fair. This mega event, a first in Türkiye, aims to engage 85 million citizens across 81 provinces with various nationwide activities.

During the four-day program, environmental volunteer divers will conduct dives to highlight underwater pollution, and traffic-free zones will be created for a day to reduce air pollution from motor vehicles. Additionally, tree planting will occur in designated areas, and participants will learn about monumental trees and registered caves.

An environmentally friendly steel house, under construction in an earthquake-prone village, will be open to visitors at the Capital City People's Garden. Panels and discussions for children and young people will be held throughout the event to promote environmental awareness.

Zero waste workshops will be established in all 81 provinces as part of ÇEVREFEST, accompanied by waste collection campaigns to raise awareness among citizens. Visits to waste collection-separation facilities, recycling plants, and coastal cities' Blue Flag marinas and boats will be organized under the "Zero Waste Blue" initiative. The festival will also address marine litter, its impact on marine life, and the effects of climate change on the seas.
