Ismek is the name of technical and vocational training center held free of charge by the municipality. 
Ismek has been operating since 1996 and has trained about 3 million people to date. Ismek has 242 centers in different parts of Istanbul and offers a lot of courses for free.
These courses include language courses such as Turkish, English, Russian, French, Arabic, Persian, German, Chinese. They also offer free courses such as cooking, baking desserts and baklava, website design, computer technician, computer software training, 3D Max, Skin care, Massage techniques, handicrafts, real estate consulting, public relations, painting, embroidery tailoring, hairdressing, accounting and music. At the end of the course, you will also be provided with valid certificates.
These courses are offered in both beginner and advanced classes.
If you are not fluent in Turkish, you can take the language class first, because in order to use other classes, you must be fluent in Turkish to some extent.
All people aged 16 and over can attend the courses for free as long as you are a citizen or have a residency card.
The duration of these courses depends on the field but most courses last between 4 to 10 months.
In addition to training other services such as holding seminars and exhibitions, entrepreneurship, publishing, competitions, product sales, etc.
There are programs for people over the age of 60 in these centers, as well as people with special needs, such as people with disabilities, prisoners and the mentally ill, who can take advantage of the special courses offered by Ismek.
Ismek also offers a variety of educational classes for students during the summer holidays, which are free for the general public.
