I always found ancient and old churches fascinating. Not only they represent humanities history, but also the architecture is quite captivating.
Ani city in Turkey has many beautiful ancient churches. Located near the Armenia border, this area was a magnificent city during the Kamsarakan Armenian dynasty. Ani, a prosperous city in the 5th century AD, became the capital of Armenia in 961, and King Ashot III of Armenia expanded its territory. His son, King Simbat II, enlarged the city and built a higher belief around the city. It was during the Second Symbat that many magnificent towers, buildings, and churches were built.
In the 11th century, more than 100,000 citizens lived in Ani. Annie was called the "City of Forty Gates" and sometimes the "City of a Thousand and One Churches" during its heyday. Over the years, the invasion of the Eastern Roman Empire, the Turks, the Kurds, and finally the Mongols immediately passed away and declined.
Redimer Church
The construction of the "Redimer Church" was completed around 1035 AD. The church has a unique design and has 19 outer pillars, 8 protrusions behind the inner altar and a huge central dome that is located on top of a large circular area. The church remained intact until 1955. It was at that time that the entire eastern part of the building collapsed due to the storm.
St. Gregory Church
The construction of St. Gregory's Church was completed in 1215. This church is less destroyed than other old buildings in the city of Annie. The Church of St. Gregory was built during the Zakarian period by order of a merchant named Tigran Honents.

Ani Cathedral
The construction of Annie Cathedral began in 989. The largest surviving old building in the ancient city of Annie is now the Cathedral. The design of this building is the work of "Trdat", a famous Armenian architect in the Middle Ages.

Hripsimin Virgins Monastery
The monastery of Hripsimian Virgins is located on the banks of the Akhurian River.
