A group of activists founded a website for mapping out dog attacks after a high school student was killed after he was mauled by 25 stray dogs in the central province of Kayseri in 2019. People in Turkey are known to be kind to stray animals including cats and dogs. Although they might be cute to look at, they are still dangerous animals that can easily kill a child, or even an adult.
A while ago, after Turkey passed a law to ban owning dangerous breeds of dogs, we saw an increase of abandoned dogs in the country side. These dogs will mate with wild dogs and create even more dangerous breeds.

According to this website, there are 90,000 stray dogs in the capital Ankara, another 128,900 in Istanbul and 450,000 in Izmir. They estimate that there are over 10 million stray dogs in Turkey. Calls for action against stray dogs that become more aggressive, especially in the heat, have found a response from authorities. Last month, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey might "pay a serious price" without sterilizing dogs and other measures.

You can access the website for the dog attacks from this link: https://havrita.com/

If you call yourself an animal lover or a dog person, you should do the responsible things and sterilize and neuter your animals. And maybe instead of abandoning them, put them down or leave them in care of a good animal shelter.
