Bills, And how to pay them?

No matter where you reside, bills are there to give your life a little more anxiety every month, especially if you just arrived in turkey.
Even if you are not buying a place and just renting, utility bills are your responsibility and the landlords usually do not agree to take care of it for you! So, you need to be prepared!

First thing to know about bills in turkey is that in order to pay them, they have to be issued in your name! So, after renting a place, you need to take your ID, DASK policy copy (this proves compulsory earthquake insurance is in place and should be obtained from the property owner) , lease, meter numbers and statement of registered residence to the utility provider's offices across town and ask them to issue the bills in your name. Keep in mind that you have to go to the offices for your area! your neighbors can help you with that, so always be friendly with them. You might also be charged a small fee for changing the bills.

The bill is in your name, now what?

Ways to pay bills in Turkey
There are many ways to pay for water, electricity, gas and telecommunications bills in Turkey:

Payment of fees at the company's headquarters:
Going to the company's HQ is the traditional way to pay the fees by handing over the bills to the employee and getting the receipt after paying it, but this method is time consuming and takes a while in order for your payment to be processed!

Pay bills by Turkish post (PTT)
You can also pay the bills fees by Turkish post (PTT) by visiting the branch closest to you and handing over the bills and getting your receipt! Keep in mind that you have to wait in a line with this method of payment as well.

    Pay through the E-DEVLET website
Recently, the Turkish government provided the service of paying telecom bills through the E-DEVLET e-government application.

Electronic payment through banks and their applications
You can also pay the bills through your bank or the bank’s mobile app or website. If you intend to pay the fees through the private bank’s application, then simply search the application for the option to pay the bills and choose the provider to whom the fees will be paid and enter the bill data, and then the fees are deducted from Your bank account and the process of paying fees is free of charge and without commissions.
