Basic science test questions are usually selected from the courses of anatomy, biochemistry, histology, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology and pathology that are taught in the first 3 years of study in medical school. On average, 22 questions are asked in the fields of biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology and pathology, 14 questions in anatomy, 10 questions in physiology and 8 questions in histology and embryology.
In the clinical part, the participant is faced with questions from the last 3 years of his / her education. Questions are asked from internal medicine (30 questions), pediatrics (30 questions), general surgery (30 questions), obstetrics (12 questions) and internship (23 questions).
Time and cost of the exam?
The test has been held twice a year since April and September since 1987. The applicant must apply two months before the test date.
Until 2012, the test was held only in Ankara. But since then, 14,000 to 16,000 applicants have taken the test annually in the three cities of Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara.
The cost of this test is 350 lira. Of course, this number may vary depending on the different services of the organizing institutions.
The validity of this test depends on the length of your specialization. In fact, the result of this test is valid until the end of your specialization course. For example, the duration of cardiology is 4 years and neurosurgery is 5 years. Therefore, the validity of this test is 4 and 5 years, respectively.
Who can take it?
Anyone who has graduated from a medical university has the right to take the TUS exam . Of course, internship students are also allowed to take the exam. Obviously, these students have the right to enter the specialty course after completing the university course.
Graduates of pharmacy, chemistry and veterinary medicine can also take the test. It should be noted that these students are only allowed to participate in the basic sciences part of the exam. Only medical graduates can take the clinical science exam.
