The first step is to prepare the necessary documents:
If you are married, you need to have your marriage certificated translated into Turkish and have it approved by your consulaate. After which you need to get it approved by the governor’s office (kaimakamlik) in turkey. You are also required to include your spouse’s name in the written lease.
If you gave a child under the age of 18, you also need to translate their birth certificate and have it approved by your consulate and kaimakamlik.
Insurance:
You need to contact insurance offices/ agencies and ask for tourist accommodation insurance. Keep in mind that the duration of your insurance and visa are the same! So in order to stay in turkey for tow years, you need to purchase a 2 year insurance as well.
Notarizing the lease
After renting a place ( which has the name of your family member in it as well) you need to take it to a notary office and have it stamped. Yes its actually as simple as that. You do not need to get all the pages of the lease stamped, just the first page will suffice. Then, copy it for each family member and put it in their documents.
Biometric photo:
You’ll need 4 biometric photos that are taken recently. If you have a small child that won’t sit still for a proper picture, no need to worry. Just take a picture of their face and explain to the residency officer that the child could not sit still. Luckily, they are not very strict in this regard.
Tax number:
It is a number assigned to you by the tax office in turkey and you need it inorder to buy a car, house, and open a bank account. You can apply for a tax code via their website or visiting the nearby office.
Rendezvous form:
You need to go to https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/ in order to get and fill the form. The website supports both Turkish and English languages. However, there may be some issues with the English version so I recommend using the Turkish one.
Payment of fees:
When filling the rendezvous form, you are required to pay land and card fees. You can pay these online if you have a bank account in turkey. If not, you are required to go to one of the tax offices and pay in cash. You’ll then be issues a receipt and are required to put it with your other documents.
After these steps are done, you’ll need to wait for the confirmation of your interview. You can choose your interview location based on your current residency.
You are required to put the necessary documents inside these pink folders:
Interview day:
Try to be punctual and arrive earlier than required. However, regardless of your arrival time, you still have to wait in a line. You have to have your passport with you and every single member of your family need to be present as well.
If all the documents are filled and completed, you will be given a receipt. Otherwise, you’ll have 30 days to prepare the missing documents and reapply.
