When you buy a car in Turkey, other than buying insurance for your car, you are required by law to have it inspected every two years.
All cars, motorcycles and trailers must undergo this technical inspection after three years from the date of purchase and every two years after that.
Vehicles must undergo annual technical inspections after one year from the first operation.
Carrying out periodical inspections of vehicles (VIZEGUNU), which includes regular checks on the operation and safety of all motor vehicles (this include heavy vehicles as well).
For this purpose, all motor vehicles are required to visit official technical examination centers (Araç Muayene İstasyonları) to undergo the necessary examinations and tests.
There are some mobile technical inspection stations also provide services to some small cities and all cars can use these services without prior appointment.

This company is the only authorized company in Turkey for testing, examination and technical inspection of cars. You need to call them to make an appointment for your car inspection.
After setting the date, it is necessary to go there on time with the required documents.
What are the Required documents for car inspection:
Car registration certificate,
original valid car insurance policy,
ID card,
passport or driver's license,
original certificate of the latest car emission test for gasoline and diesel/gasoline cars (less than one month).
Original gas leak test certificate for LPG vehicles (less than one month old)
Tax payment certificate
Proof of non-existence of tax debt and traffic fines
Previous technical examination certificate (if any)
What are the Costs of car inspection in Turkey?
The rates and costs of car inspection in Turkey are variable and might change from day to day unfortunately. So, you can go to UHDGM.UAB.GOV.TR website to check the prices before you go. If you postpone your car inspection however, you will be fined by 5% of the price of inspection.
Do you have to get your rental car inspected?
No! the car rental company is in charge of having their cars inspected.
Cars that successfully pass these steps will receive a sticker stating that they have passed the technical inspection which they must install on the license plate.
Also, a certificate will be delivered to the car owner from the center that performs these measures, which must be presented in the next test. But if a car has problems that can be solved, a sticker stating that it has a "temporary technical defect" will be installed on its license plate and its details will be reported to the Turkish Traffic Authority.
In such a situation, the car owner must fix the specified repairs and defects within 30 days from the date of the test and return to the technical examination center.
Re-inspection is free for such cars.
